TIG Welding Gloves are protective gloves specifically designed for the TIG welding process. Compared to manual welding gloves, their main difference lies in their high flexibility: because TIG welding has extremely high requirements for the control accuracy of the welding gun and the filling of the wire, while also taking into account basic heat resistance and anti-splash performance.
1. Lightweight and flexible, with a thickness generally ranging from 0.6 to 1.2 mm, much thinner than conventional manual arc welding gloves. The finger areas adopt seamless or minimalist stitching techniques to reduce the restriction on finger movement.
2. The length is mainly designed for short-wrist or mid-wrist, typically ranging from 15 to 25 cm, shorter than the manual welding gloves (generally over 35 cm). Because TIG welding has a very low amount of slag splashing, there is no need for long-wrist protection for the forearm. The short-wrist design can further increase the freedom of movement of the hand and arm, suitable for welding in complex positions such as pipes, thin plates, and irregular parts.
3. Generally, materials with soft texture, strong toughness, and a good fit to the hand shape are used, such as goat skin or deer skin.
When purchasing TIG welding gloves, if you want to balance a small amount of manual welding, you can choose a thicker model of TIG gloves with a thickness of 1.0-1.2 mm. However, it is not recommended to use it for large current manual arc welding for a long time.
To determine the quality of TIG welding gloves, first look at the material. The leather should be soft and have good elasticity, and the flame-retardant fabric should not burn or char. The inner lining should be made of breathable and absorbent pure cotton. Then check the structure. The fingers should have a seamless or internal stitching design for a better fit, the palm and the part of the thumb joint should be reinforced, and the wrist should be adjustable. Observe the workmanship. Check if the stitching uses flame-retardant thread and the needle holes are fine. The cuffs and the tips of the fingers should be treated with edge protection. Finally, try them on to ensure that the fingers are flexible, have good heat insulation, and fit well without any marks.
