What is MMA welding?

MMA (Manual Metal Arc Welding), sometimes also called SMAW (Stand-Metal Arc Welding), is a welding method using sticks. It is the oldest and most widely used of the various arc welding processes.

Welding Principle

When you weld, an arc starts between the electrode and the workpiece. The electrode is a metal rod with flux on its surface. The arc melts the electrode and the metal on the workpiece’s surface. Then a weld forms. The welder uses their hands to control the arc’s length. This keeps the weld stable.
